BOOBDOIR
This installation was made in response to Antwerp Mansion, a boudoir is a private place that was often found in a large house, in this installation the ‘Boobdoir’ has become a space where romance is dead. The oversized curtains are tied back with tortuous looking female forms to suggest entrapment and violence within the home. The chair takes on the form of the female it’s head is slumped over the back to suggest a loss of power. In this instance it is the female that is portrayed as the victim.
Through the use of household materials this space becomes a contradiction in home comforts.
This is Antwerp Mansion where the nice men let us hold our exhibition.
